Abandoned mineshaft redux

I got sooooo lost in the mineshaft and started getting attacked by every creature in the game, I even found a beach squid.  I had to tunnel upwards after being poisoned and came out at the very bottom of the ocean, flooded my tunnel, and narrowly escaped to the surface with my life...and loot.  I found four chests full of gold, seed, and iron ingots.

Some of the Night and the Second Day

I killed a creeper.  If you leave your island and it's not lit up, things WILL spawn there.
New day.  I'm going to make a mine shaft on my island which goes to the most shallow side of my island.  Since I just started I'm only going to bring two stone pick axes, which I got the stone for by digging straight down and using dirt to jump climb back up.

Ok I've been digging and I just found an abandoned mineshaft, I think.  I haven't technically found one before, but I'm not going in without a sword so I'm headed up.  I'll go back to explore it when I'm equiped.  And as you can see, I need food before I get so hungry that I lose health.

I hope I don't get an injury as I plummet in.
It's a mineshaft...pretty sweet.  We're in business now.
I found gold right off the bat.  Most of it is flooded and there are spots with some rail paths.
There is almost too much treasure for me to haul in here.  There are at least twenty different ways to go, all in different direction and on different levels.  And ore lines like all my walls.  This is truly a great find but I'm lucky if I get out alive because I am lost :(.  It is really easy to get lost here, even when I mark my way with torches.
Way too much stuff to note.  I'm just going to post if something super cool happens.

Time to fix that TARDIS... now about that chameleon circuit

Ok, here we go.  I'm going to start a new game in survival mode, and I'm going to use Doctor Who as a seed.  Let's see what happens.  And I'm using beta version 1.9.4.

OMG TREES EVERYWHERE?!

I spawned surrounded by trees, they are everywhere.  Since I'm pretty much on a giant mountain without much spread out land and too dense with trees, I think I'm going to set up an island fortress here.
Most people wouldn't do that, but I have this love thing for island fortresses.  The main thing I love about them is that enemies usually can't spawn and kill you while you're building.  Don't worry,k it will get interesting.  This is just my first little building, I'll eventually build a bridge to the main land and then we can get down to business building real structures like farms, decorations, monster loot traps, and red-stone machines.

BEAUTIFUL.  A small shelter to serve as base camp until I mine the materials to make a proper home.
It's almot night...if I weren't on an island things might get scary.  Since I am, I can easily defend every piece of my land against darkness, so baddies can't spawn here.  Guess I'm wrapping up this post.  I'll be back soon to tell you about the night...if I survive.

Starting a new game

I'm gonna go ahead and start a new game for the sake of a the blog.  I would like to make one post for each day and/or night, but that's just ideally.  I may skip some or forget, but it's probably not very noteworthy anyway.  I will supplement pictures when I can so this will pretty much be a game journal.  You get to watch me play when all you have to do is read.

Background of minecraft.

Minecraft is a clone of a very similar game, but has much better features.  It is created by a man named Notch, and his company Mojang.  Although not technically released yet, you are free to buy the beta version.  It is basically a low graphic survival game which also lets you destroy and rebuild the environment.  Actually it demands it as that is the only way to survive the night, if you intend on doing it every night.  It lets you store and craft items out of other items, and prepares a rich experience for you, ensuring lots of fun.
